Action Canada 2023-2024: Whitehorse Vlog

Action Canada 2023-2024: Whitehorse Vlog

Last September, Action Canada’s 2023-24 Fellows immersed themselves in the wonders of Whitehorse, Yukon, for an enriching study tour. Engaging with the community, they experienced a warm welcome from Tagish and Inland Tlingit man, Gary Sidney Johnson, at Carcross/Tagish First Nation.

Their exploration extended to understanding the critical role of Air North in Northern transportation. The study tour included hosting a thought-provoking lecture on ‘Self-Determination: A Fundamental Element of Economic Reconciliation’ at Yukon University. This insightful session featured speakers Victoria Fred, Independent Associate Counsel and Justin Ferbey ’07, Deputy Minister for the Executive Council and Cabinet Secretary, President and CEO of the Yukon Housing Corporation, paying tribute to Sarah Robinson ’14.

Venturing into the cultural and historical fabric of Yukon, the Fellows discovered the essence of Northern Canada. The journey included discussions with The Honorable Jeanie McLean, shedding light on crucial policy issues.

Now, you can explore their documented experience in this vlog, beautifully narrated by Tesicca Truong, 2023-24 Fellow. Join us on this virtual journey into the heart of the North!
